Play Park

Kilchoan Playpark

The Kilchoan Playpark was created to provide a safe, welcoming and accessible outdoor space for children and families in the village of Kilchoan. The playpark supports community wellbeing by offering a place for children to play, socialise and enjoy outdoor activities close to home.

How it runs

The Kilchoan Playpark is managed, maintained and developed by local parents as a dedicated sub-group of the Company. The group works to ensure the play area remains safe, enjoyable and suitable for the needs of local children and families.

Over recent years, the group has continued to improve the facility through the purchase and installation of new play equipment, supported by grant funding from Highland Council and ongoing community involvement.

Funding and Resourcing

The Company’s activities began during 2012–13, its first year of operation, with a focus on developing and operating a new Community Park for the village of Kilchoan.

The project was made possible through significant local fundraising efforts, with additional match funding awarded in March 2012 through the Highland LEADER 2007–2013 Programme. This support enabled the community to build the playpark and establish a valued local resource that continues to serve residents and visitors today.

The ongoing success of the Kilchoan Playpark relies on continued community participation, volunteer support and external funding opportunities to maintain and enhance the facility for future generations.
