Kilchoan Shop and Fuel Station
The Kilchoan Shop and Fuel Station project is a community-led initiative to replace the village’s recently closed shop, fuel and electric vehicle (EV) facilities. The project aims to deliver a sustainable, long-term community asset that supports local residents, strengthens the local economy and improves resilience in West Ardnamurchan.
By restoring access to essential services within the village, the development will help support everyday needs, reduce the need for residents to travel for basic provisions and provide a valuable resource for both the local community and visitors.

How it will run
Once completed, the shop and fuel station will be leased to a professional operator, creating employment opportunities and ensuring the facility is managed sustainably on a day-to-day basis.
The community ownership model will allow the asset to generate income through the lease arrangement, with proceeds reinvested for the long-term benefit of the West Ardnamurchan community. This approach will secure essential services locally while creating an enduring community-owned resource.
Funding and Resourcing
Funding for the construction of the shop and fuel station is being secured through a combination of public funding applications, a community crowdfunding campaign, local sponsorship and wider community fundraising efforts.
The project represents a significant collaborative effort, bringing together local residents, supporters and funding partners to deliver a vital facility that will serve the community for generations to come.
